Nevi (known also as \u2018\u2019moles\u2019\u2019) are the most common \u201cabnormality\u201d of the skin. Usually, they represent benign skin tumors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melanocytic nevi may present in a variety of forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They could appear flat, outgrowth or papillary and range in pigmentation from light to dark brown or black. The size varies from a few millimeters to many centimeters.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Nevi – When are they dangerous?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In order to evaluate the danger of a mole we consider the following warning signs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. \u0391 (Asymmetry): One half of a mole doesn’t match the other half.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. \u0392 (Border irregularity): The edges of a mole are ragged, notched or blurred.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. C (Color): A non-uniform mixture of colour distribution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. D (Diameter): Diameter greater than 6 millimeters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. E (Elevation – Evolution): A change in the size, shape, symptoms (such as itching or tenderness), surface (especially bleeding), or color of a mole.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
